[CITY], Virginia–[UNIT COMMITTEE] joins in National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. The Committee encourages Virginians to serve as Officers of Election–the officials who manage the voting process at the precinct polling places on Election Day in [UNIT].
“Strong poll workers make elections transparent and accurate,” said [UNIT CHAIR]. “We’re grateful to the Virginians who already serve and hope many more will join them.”
In Virginia, poll workers (or officers of election) represent the Republican and Democratic Parties. They are recommended by the local party committees to the local Electoral Board for appointment. Poll workers receive training from the elections office and are paid a modest stipend for their work.
